FAQ

Sue Self Health Tulum
  • Massage is great to improve circulation and ease pain, but the real issue is in the accumulation of scar tissue. Breaking down scar tissue allows for healing and recovery, bringing the muscles and joints back to a healthy state.

Deep Tissue Therapy provides effective results using a precise elbow technique on and around bones and joints, and to get deep into the muscle fibres, fascia, tendons, and fibroids. The elbow works on scar tissue, pulling apart the fibrous material promoting blood, lymph, and energy flow.

Crystallization, and calcification is broken down to improve the range of movement between joints and bones in shoulders, hands, elbows, hips, knees, ankles, feet and even your face.

It’s also important to make sure you are doing your part to make the necessary lifestyle changes to ensure lasting results from the therapy.

I will also support you by teaching you exercises and health protocols that you can follow in your own time, that will empower you to maintain or reach an optimal level of health.

  • Emotional or physical stress, cause an inflammatory state. Fibrin, and white blood cells bring the body back into balance and calcium is produced to buffer down acidity. If an area continues to be inflamed, calcification, crystallization and scar tissue will form, and this causes pain and restricted movement.

While scar tissue is necessary to repair fibres and muscles around an injury site, it can become tough and non-pliable, restricting movement and function.

Inflammation and scar tissue can be caused in many different ways, including stress, grief, and anxiety, injuries, surgery, and poor nutrition.

As people age, they may feel less pain, due to a build-up of so much scar tissue, it causes a numbness. However, this numbness causes stiffness. Ultimately, it’s not an “old age” issue, but a scar tissue issue. Wouldn’t it be great to remove blockages and pain, allowing healthy circulation and flexibility?

  • A combined session of deep tissue bodywork and lymphatic massage offers a comprehensive approach to wellness. Here’s a more detailed look at the benefits:

    1. Improved Circulation: The techniques used in both deep tissue bodywork and lymphatic massage can help to stimulate blood flow and lymph circulation. This can deliver more oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and organs, which can promote healing and overall health.

    2. Enhanced Immune Response: By stimulating the flow of lymph, these therapies can support your immune system. The lymphatic system plays a key role in your body’s ability to fight off illness and disease.

    3. Reduced Pain and Stress Levels: Deep tissue bodywork can help to alleviate pain by addressing knots and tension in the muscles. Both therapies can also help to reduce stress levels by promoting relaxation and well-being.

    4. Increased Range of Motion and Muscular Health: By working on deeper layers of muscle tissue, deep tissue bodywork can help to improve flexibility and range of motion. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with muscle stiffness or chronic pain.

    5. Systemic Wellness: The combination of these therapies can contribute to overall wellness by addressing issues in the muscular system and promoting the body’s natural detoxification processes.

  • Pain points that might drive a person to seek lymphatic massage could include

    • chronic muscle tension,

    • recurring headaches,

    • fatigue, and/or stress

    • reduced range of motion,

    • the need for a natural detoxification process.

    • individuals recovering from injuries or surgeries

    • those dealing with conditions like lymphedema, may also find this combination particularly beneficial. As always, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new therapy regimen.

  • Generally speaking, lymphatic drainage massage is a safe treatment to relieve lymphedema. There are some conditions and circumstances where lymphatic drainage massage isn’t recommended:

Heart conditions, kidney failure, blood clots, and infection.

Talk to your doctor if your physical health if concerned about your health after lymphatic drainage massage. (Cleveland clinic.)

  • For some people it’s typical to undergo a detoxification response after their initial lymphatic massage. If you’re experiencing this, it’s advised not to repeat the six-point process until you’ve recovered. Common symptoms of detoxification can include; headaches, fatigue, mental cloudiness, muscle aches, skin reactions, and a mild fever.

As always, individual experiences may vary, and it’s important to communicate with your therapist about your specific needs and goals for the session.
